I took some different shapes and arranged them paralaley in different lines and tried to show the similarity using two different colors. Suppose the first line and the third line have similar color and view. On the other hand the second line and fourth line have similar color and shape. This are all about similarity to me but there are something more which I don't know.
Try removing color and using several, similar shapes to represent parts of a larger whole. See the examples provided here and in blackboard:
