Second life prim: It's really exciting to me as this is the first time I am enjoying the second life even I have never heard about it. At first I logged in and then used different tools to change my shape. I select an object to build. Fortunately I didn't have to pay for this. I choose the color and design as we have the same grameen cheek. Professor Dr. Yuns the introducer of micro credit summit in United States.

EMOTIONAL DESIGN

To create this emotional design I took a picture of an Elephant tooth paste. I tried to show the light of education is  needed to be spreads throughout the universe. I used Photo shop and it's different tools to gave a shape of this design. But i need to confess that I have made a great mistake by using the alphabet's which was absolutely a mistake and does not fulfill the demand of emotional design.

Isolation:

Grouping

Unity:
I have used power point to show grouping. I went insert menu and chose some shapes. Then I arranged them according to my taste and colored them what ever I like.
After getting a shape I saved it in JPEG format and posted.

Gestalt's similarity

Similarity:
I took some different shapes and arranged them paralaley in different lines and tried to show the similarity using two different colors. Suppose the first line and the third line have similar color and view. On the other hand the second line and fourth line have similar color and shape. This are all about similarity to me but there are something more which I don't know.

Critical Reflection

Critical Reflection for my Blog
It is high time for me to act as a Critique. I am supposed to give critical reflection on my blog that I have already posted not even worthy of criticize let alone reflect or grade.
I am not a Critique. Being a teacher of secondary and higher secondary school what I usually do every year I cheek hundreds of written answer scripts of my students not the blog or portfolio let alone personal blog. So it is very interesting as well as challenging topic to me. I find it very complicated as technology was not friendly or familiar to me but honestly speaking it is in the rising stage. Still the Photoshop! It doesn’t like me but I like it. It seems to me somewhat like one angle love. I know the reason behind this and I on the way of overcoming it. I deem that my son would do better than me.
But I do believe that failure is the pillar of success. I am not at all frustrated. I am really happy and satisfied with my work that I have already posted with the help of my teacher Dr. Estes. If she had not helped me, I would not have made it possible to do the least that I have posted.
I tried to post all my class activities but could not explained much about that for lack of understanding. I tried to show Horizon Variations, Grouping Theme, Color and emphasis, Golden Section and reflection of the Geospatial Google Earth Seminar.
Anyway, how do I evaluate my blog? Yes, It’ s great! Not to you but to me. I don’t like to grade it because it would be a matter of laughing. I had a little knowledge on computer just sending and receiving e-mails.
Basing on that little knowledge I dared to choose Visual Literacy, which is very imaginative and thematic. Isn’t it a gigantic step for me?
In the classroom I used to making some sort of preparation that I would do it at home. When I was at home I got myself involved in checking lots of emails and chatting with family members to remove homesickness. Recently I discovered something new and very interesting and it is Face book! This is a actually blessing of technology and credit goes to my technology teachers of JMU. The most interesting fact is that I discovered my x-students who are now around the Globe.
Any way as I missed two classes for some unavoidable problem, I couldn’t post all the topics on time. I tried to get it back but failed because of my Photoshop software. It has made my laptop slower and frozen and now it is totally out of order! Moreover, this is totally new to me. But I enjoyed it and still I am enjoying. What I put into by blog is not perfect always. My settings, color adjustment, alignment is not appropriate. I need to work hard to overcome the problem and I am very much hopeful about my success.

Past and Present

Past and present: I have selected a black and white road view with lot of cars for this purpose. Among the cars I choose one to give it new color just to represent the present. I used photo shop tools. At first I crop the upper part of a car using crop tool and then used fill color tool. For your easy understanding I used the past scene and present one below.

Golden Section Ruler

Golden Section Ruler: In this exercise I tried to show the Ruler using different color and shape. I used various tools of photo shop to create this shape.

Creating Icon

In this exercise I took a  Wall Clock and tried to create an Icon using some parts of the clock not the whole clock. I created a pointer using photo shop, gave the numbers and colored the icon to differentiate  from the original one.

Past and present

Classroom exercise: Past and Present
According I took a black and white picture of a road view of the past and tried my best to color a car using photo shop. At first I highlighted the car and then crop it using crop tool. Then I tried to color it and gave a new perspective just to show the difference between past and present.

Golden section

Golden Section Ruler
Here in this golden section ruler I tried my best to show how to use ruler. How can a design be more attractive to the viewers. When a designer design he should keep it in mind but unfortunately I am not a designer. so, what I usually do I write or design whatever I like, not for others but for me. Selfish! yes, I am a selfish. Actually this is my inability. I have never thought of studying a sophisticated subject like Visual Literacy.

But honestly speaking I am enjoying this technology class. Please don't make fun. If you are a good friend. Comments critically how to improve.

Krause Alignment Exercise Alignment Exercise (p. 87)

Krause says" Alignment between elements can be used to create a sense of agreement , soundness and unity within a piece, regardless of the tone of its overall message."

I have chosen to create this ad for a pencil company .I liked the placing of the pencils as a centered alignment.Even the lettering of the heading and the sub headings has been kept centrally assigned to give a sense of proportion and also emphasize the pencils beauty as well as the name. The Grey background has been used to enhance and emphasize the description used  'sparkling '.

Greatness of technology!!

Greatness of technology!
I know very well that I am not at all a good writer because my English is very poor. I wish I could write some handsome sentences! Then I must continue writing. Why technology is great? A glaring example, few minutes back I talked to my family for long 40 minutes and they could see me. Of course this was possible because of technology. If we think about Egypt! The live video! What an amazing pictures people around the world are getting within a moment. Isn’t it the contribution of Technology? Ok I like you to add something on technology……..

Google Earth & Geospatial Projects on the Shenandoah Valley Event

About myself
Hi! I am Mohammad Saiful Islam. I am an English teacher of Agrani School and College, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Now I am student of JMU just for a full semester four months and fifteen days. I am an ILEP fellow. I got scholarship for international leaders in education program by IREX and US Satate department. I

First presenter: Mapping Historical Resources, Harrisonburg, VA, Kevin Borg, History Department

My view or opinion about this presenter is positive. He is very much analytical. The map he displayed is the combination of both past and present through which the viewers can compare between two. The presenter himself and the students of JMU worked very had on it. The intention of these is to help the SS of JMU to realize how HB has change with passage of time so that SS can do a research on it. The map shows the ultimate change of HB. It has helped he know the past and present of this city. It was created on Google earth. The presenter used Photoshop too.
Second presenter: Interactive Geologic Maps of Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley Region - Steve Whitmeyer, Geology & Environmental Science.
The second presenter presented some parts of the city Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley Region. In this map we saw rocks. The presenter used different colors to highlight them. The visuals were presented jointly with the presenter’s colleague. They also used Google earth and Google maps. The aim of this effort is of course education and research rather than  creating network among the components of Virginia. The target groups are students mainly. It was actually open for all.. The map is an actual representation of locations in Virginia that provide data and pictures. These visuals have helped me get to know the use of Google earth as  this the first opportunity for me I am trying to keep pace with technology.

Technology is the best way of our life.

Great Technology!
It's not from my lip but from my heart. To speak the truth, Technology has changed  my vision of life. Coming here in JMU and attending one Seminar and attending technology class, I came to know that I need to learn a lot. The people around me at JMU find very helpful and kind. Specially if i don't mention the name of Jesica, Malizer , it would be unjust to them. How helpful Jesica is! Well, the google earth and the blackboard would help us to some great extent, I firmly believe it.
Let's go ahead for the better days.

My adventure in USA

Hello! I am here in Harrisonburg, Virginia, USA. I feel like an adventure because I am above forty but now a student of James Madison University! However I got a Fulbright scholarship from IREX on International Leaders in Education approved by US state department. Though I have some limitations, my ambition is to explore every nook and corner of USA. My budgeted time for this program is only four months and twenty days.
Well I have already ended the orientation at Washington Hotel Plaza, Washington Dc, USA. It was a four day long orientation and one day free schedule for taking rest as I had been in long 18 hours journey. To be continued…
